Update coming soon. Engine is running good and has 1200 km on the clock since the rebuild. Have used lotsa time tinkering with valve setting and the old rundown carbs. Plan to take the engine appart again next year during wintertime, if scheduele and economy permits. Have a few blunders and late revalations I want to pursue. More info and media coming soon.

The new parts has arrived

Bought piston/rings, primary chain, complete set of guides and tensioners, main and bigend bearings, gasketset, oilsealset and a couple of replacement valves. Will order more stuff as needed and can be afforded, but this package really gets the rebuild going :-) Enjoy

Moving the frame

Everything except the engine had been stored at a friends place, but the guy is just too busy and lives too far away for it to be practical when the assembly fase comes up. So I had to move everything closer to home in my old volvo. It was a tight fit, and had to remove most parts, but in the end the volvo could accomodate the honda :-) What a nice unification of the two machines I love and work on. Even though it had been stored nice and dry it was dusty and dirty. I almost gave up the entire thing with all the work ahead, but luckily a wipe and some tlc made it all worth while again. Am now waiting impatiently for the new parts to arrive and getting the machinework done.

Parts ordered

The order has been placed at DavidSilvers in the UK. New pistons and rings, complete set of chains, tensioners and guides. Gasket pack, oil seal pack a couple of valves and other stuff. Can hardly wait for it to arrive. The case, cylinder and head will soon be ready to recieve all the new goodies. Need to replace at least one valve and clean up a lot, but its all looking good so far. Hope I dont fuck it up somehow or run out of money.. cause I gotta ride this summer :-D

Cleaning the head

The engine block is currently in a machine shop to get the stud problem fixed. So meanwhile i'm looking at the head. It's mostly cleaning and adjustment and changing at least one valve and maybe some shims. Here's a picture of the cleaning so far. I think its a lot of work, but well worth while doing right. By the way.. all bearings are in spec :-)

Micrometer

YES.. finally i got my micrometer. Not the most expensive model with fancy digital display and such, but i imagine it will do just fine. I'll try it out later today.. hope to god it's all within spec :-)

Howdy :-) Made a little vid with my mobilephone. I unfortunately threw my nice Canon Ixus away so this will have to do.

And a little update: Still waiting patiently for my brand new micrometer to measure the crank and bigend bearings. A far as I can tell though its all within spec but gotta be sure, and its nice to have a more precise measuring device in the toolkit :-) The bigend are all green, easy to tell because the paintdabs still remain. The main are all brown but for one. As you may have noticed the case is missing the studs, one broke of and the remaining one is firmly stuck in the case. This, i hope, will soon be taken care of so I can get on with the rebuild and once again be a happy rider this summer :-)
